Photography Now

The Contemporary Art Center's new curator David S Rubin is taking steps to put the 'contemporary' back into the CAC with a important new photography show. 'Photography Now' lives up to its name, showcasing 35 of the world's most influential photographers including Americans Cindy Sherman, Nan Goldin, Sally Mann and Andres Serrano, Sam Taylor-Wood of the UK, Thomas Ruff of Germany and Mariko Mori from Japan. Rubin will give a slide-lecture on July 16, 2.30pm, to introduce the show.

Louis Prima: The Wildest

The swing music and dance revival that had kids in their 20s dressing like it was the 1940s again may have already peaked, but interest in some of the icons of that era certainly hasn't subsided. Swing band leader Louis Prima is one of the more colourful stars who ruled that era. 'Louis Prima: The Wildest' traces the life of the bandleader, who was a tireless performer and ladies man. It presents newsreel footage, vintage TV spots and performance clips, as well as interviews with his former wives Keely Smith and Gia Malone, both of whom were performers with Prima's band.
